Design Brief: Sortera
WHAT
A multipurpose sink organizer that can be used both in and out of a kitchen sink

WHO
People living in small kitchens or those who need an easy storage system

HOW
Ideation, user testing, prototyping, metal modelling, solid works, and rendering

Research
PRIMARY RESEARCH
-Looked at existing products for kitchen sink organization

-Developed low-fi prototypes to test strength and weight of materials

-Observed how a range of users organize their kitchen products
Ideation
Low-Fi Prototypes
Low fidelity prototypes were used to establish overall dimensions, forms, and general functionality aspects like material strength and support structures.

VERSION 1
- Legs too short

-No room for bottom rack

-Box walls are too high

VERSION 2
- Better form

- Corner needs a better transition

-Good overall dimensions & height

VERSION 3
- Good strength and weight-to-strength ratio

-Curvature needs to be refined

-Develop way for bottom rack to be supported
Design Refinement
This kitchen organizer uses dynamic principles to be used both in a sink and on a counter.
The sliding handles are able to lock in place with the use of a railing system.

CAD modelling programs such as Solidworks and Fusion360 were used to gain a better understanding of the dimensions and manufacturing principles

Final Design
After multiple stages of research, ideation, and prototyping, a final concept was developed.

This kitchen organizer can help to de-clutter a variety of different spaces with its adjustable legs and locking system.
