Canada 150 Webpage Redesign

A collaborative project with two other industrial design students to evaluate the current webpage design while making use of user testing and design research techniques to develop a more accessible and user-friendly digital platform.

Step 1: Study & Research Goals

WHO:

Identify stakeholders and their relation to the digital platform

WHAT:

Determine areas to improve in terms of accessibility and navigation

HOW:

Through means of user testing and research

WHY:

Increase the usability of the and overall experience of the webpage

RESEARCH QUESTIONS:

1. Do participants complete given tasks with minimal confusion or error?

2. Which features do people gravitate towards with initial exploration of the website?

3. Are participants seemingly frustrated or confused with use of interface?

4. Can participants navigate through Canada-wide activities easily?

5. Is there a 'bottleneck' region where participants get funnelled into?

6. Do participants gravitate more towards one of the three main options (i.e. How to Participate, Come out and Celebrate, and Explore out Country)?

7. Do participants make use of the social media embedments?

8. Do participants appear to be engages while viewing the Canada 150 website?

9. Do participants view videos on the homepage?

10. How long do participants spend reading/observing the pages between navigational steps?

11. How many participants click 'Canada 150' banner to redirect themselves to the homepage?

Step 2: Interim Report

WHO:

Participants and researchers used for tests

WHAT:

Determine problematic areas of the website and possible improvements

HOW:

Through means of user testing and research

WHY:

Increase the usability of the and overall experience of the webpage

SYNTHESIS OF TECNIQUES:

-Affinity Diagram

-Hueristic Analysis

-KANO Analysis

-Mood Board

-Journey Map

-Identification of Requirements

Following user testing and preliminary research, our team was able to develop various ideations for webpage improvements and furthermore, able to propose two concepts for further testing

Step 3: Final Proposal

WHO:

Participants and researchers used for tests

WHAT:

Determine problematic areas of the website concepts and areas of  improvement for the final design

HOW:

Through means of user testing and research

WHY:

Increase the usability of the and overall experience of the webpage

After testing both concepts for the redesign, we were able to develop a final website proposal for the Canada 150 digital platform.
